Aventurine
Main Deposits
India, Brazil, Russia (Ural Mountains), Austria, Tanzania and South Africa.
Description and Characteristics
Aventurine is a variety of microcrystalline quartz characterised by the presence of lamellar inclusions that produce a shimmering effect known as aventurescence. It is usually found in metamorphic rocks and pegmatites. Its most common green colour is due to inclusions of fuchsite (a chromium-bearing mica), although it can also occur in reddish or brownish tones due to inclusions of hematite or goethite.

Aventurine is mainly used for decorative purposes and in jewellery.
New-Age Properties
Aventurine is considered the stone of opportunity and well-being. Its positive energy is capable of absorbing electromagnetic smog (from phones and Wi-Fi networks) and protecting against environmental pollution.
