Description and Characteristics

Chrysocolla is a hydrated copper silicate that forms in the oxidation zones of copper deposits. It is not a mineral in the strict sense of having a defined crystalline structure (it is an amorphous mineraloid), although it often occurs mixed with quartz, which gives it greater hardness. It generally occurs in botryoidal masses (like bunches of grapes), crusts or vein fillings. It is highly prized for its intense colours, which evoke the view of Earth from space.

Did you know...?

Its name derives from the Greek words chrysos (gold) and kolla (glue), as the ancients used it as a material for soldering gold. It was one of Cleopatra’s favourite stones; she carried it with her to help calm her temper during negotiations.

New-Age Properties

Chrysocolla is a calming stone that offers support, aids meditation, and facilitates communication. Within the home, it dispels all types of negative energies. It is beneficial for relationships that have become strained, stabilizing them both at home and in personal life. Chrysocolla calms, cleanses, and energizes all the chakras, aligning them with the divine. Placed on the solar plexus chakra, it helps release negative emotions; on the throat chakra, it improves communication; and on the heart chakra, it heals grief and instills the capacity to love. Placed on the third eye, it helps open psychic vision. Psychologically, chrysocolla fosters self-awareness and inner balance while imparting confidence and sensitivity. Mentally, it reduces tension and maintains a cool head, promoting truth and fairness. Emotionally, it alleviates guilt and brings joy. Keep it positioned on the skin wherever it feels most appropriate or place it on the third eye.
